Every thing in the IT world gone a great distance in the last couple of years...
Everything except the good old "curriculum vitae",
When you apply to a job.
We are all familiar with this dry and boring document that everyone writes and if you had a chance to recruit someone you know how hard it is to read a CV and compare it with others. (everyone writes in different template)
I think it's about time to start CV 2.0 that is more suitable for current times
and here are a few pointers.
1. send your linkedin profile as a CV (or a least refer to it in you CV)
2. I don't care if you are Microsoft's CEO, keep your CV as long as a A4 page (2 pages are too much)
3. Ask your colleagues to provide you with recommendation on linkedin it is good as a phone reference.
4. If you are a programer/designer put in a link to one of your latest and greatest work. (one picture/software worth 1000 words)
5. be active on the web (when your employer will Google you, you will earn points for been mention on the web.)
6. be sure you are not mention on the web in negative/porn context (this can't be good :) )
That's it if i forgot something please feel free to drop my a line and let me know if you liked my pointers.
