Yahoo makes openID legit

If the rumors are true and Yahoo will start using OpenID,
it's a great news for this project and for web services world wide.
because it will more then double OpenID registered users and will help create a standard it user details.
I will defintly use OpenID in my next project.

bad ideas

I'm back,
after a month and a half off writing i finally found the time to write and hopefully make it weekly.
As an adviser a lot of companies (or guys/girls who want to start a company) present me there idea and asks me what i think about it and if i can help them.
you wouldn't believe the amount of bad ideas i get...
So here is a few guide lines for avoiding a bad idea.
  1. "Goggle it"- try to find your idea done by someone else, if you don't find anything like that ask you self why no one as done it before?
if you do find it ask your self why i am better and they failed? (because i am smarter is not a good answer here)
  2. Define the problem- a lot of start ups are made by a technology people who builds a nice technology and then try to build a product around it. it's should be the other way around, first product then technology.
  3. How does it going to make money?- a simple question that a lot of start ups forget, I don't know any investor who will put his money on an idea with out a biz model in it. (we will have a lot of user and then we will make an exit is not a biz model).
  4. Try to avoid enabling old paradigms from the "real world" into the software/web world for example if a mall is a good idea in real life it doesn't mean that a virtual mall is a good idea.
instead try to think in the web/software world: for example a virtual mall can be an online store that has a lot of products in good prices and a good UI. (Amazon.com is a great online mall)
That's my list and i hope it helps.
